Technical Properties and Specifications of Increased Optical Interaction Path Capillaries for LIF-CE

  • Eliminate Effect of Curved Capillaries
  • Increased Effective Internal Surface Area
  • 2X the Transverse Optical Interaction w/Collimated Beam
  • Reduced Scattering
The optical refractive index of the internal fluid does not affect the instrument focus when using collimated beams and the square capillary. The light beams are not focused by the “lens effect” of circular capillaries and the sample fluid with MicroSolvCE Square Capillaries.

Capillary Illustration

Laser Induced Fluorescence Detectors in CE normally use collimated beams. Figure one shows the net result of using the square capillary with such a detector. Please note that some alignment may be required for optimization. Figure two shows signal (light) that can be lost when using non collimated beams such as UV detectors. Figure 3 shows the loss when using LIF detectors with a circular capillary.
