Can Your HPLC Column Do This?
Real Life Application; Controlling Elution Order Page 13
Typically to work ANP with TYPE-C columns, if the compound is basic it should be analyzed in an acid buffer and acidic compounds should be analyzed in basic buffers. There are exceptions to this rule, an example being basic antidepressants. If the above suggestion does not work examine the opposite pH extreme appropriate for the chosen phase. Acetonitrile is the preferred organic modifier as only ARP responses are usually noted if one utilizes Methanol as the organic modifier. THF can give less tailing than acetonitrile or methanol for some compounds.
