What is a Redi-Reckoner?
|
|
A Redi-Reckoner is a generic strategy, a paradigm, a road map that makes it easy to develop chromatographic
methods in a minimal amount of time and very economically. It is a series of chromatograms that follow a pathway of
increasing column inner diameter (ID), column length, flow rate, gradient mixtures and strategies and or sample
loading that leads a chromatographer to the best column for their separation needs.
What is it used for? How does it work?
The data provided in the Redi-Reckoner gives you more information to make informed decisions before buying
your Analytical, Semi-prep, Prep or Process scale HPLC column. Often, a standard Analytical HPLC Column
(250mm x 4.6mm) is not the best analytical column for resolution. With the Redi-Reckoner, the best column
becomes more obvious without the aid of computer programs or sophisticated software at a single glance.
Using a Cogent "Half Column" and a Redi-Reckoner you can see how your fast, optimized (4.6mm x 75mm)
column separation will perform in large, expensive prep columns before investing in
the purchase; the Redi-Reckoner helps you to predict your separation’s limits on various column sizes and
dimension before buying them.
