Fitting the Milli-phase™ CEC Column to Your Instrument

The Milli-phase™ CEC columns are supplied with 10cm of empty section of the overall capillary. Depending on your instrument, you will want to cut the outlet side of the capillary enough to match your instrument. Below are guidelines for the two major commercially available instruments.

Agilent 3D™ - Minimum packed length for CEC with this instrument is 25cm. The total length needed is about 31.5cm.

Beckman P/ACE 5000™ - Minimum packed length for CEC with this instrument is 20cm. The total length needed is about 28cm.

NEVER CUT OFF THE INLET SIDE OF CEC Column

If you must cut the column to make it fit into your system, please note the follow suggestion: cut Short Side of the column (8-10cm). This side is empty and should be a darker color. The packed section should have a “yellowish” appearance.
