1.  What is the Pre-Column Body made from? [top]
PEEK and the stainless steel filters element are the only materials in the PreColumn Filters.

2.  What is the maximum pressure the Pre-Column Filters can withstand? [top]
5,000 psi is the normal rating of these filters.

3.  What is the filter element inside the Pre-Column made from? [top]
HPLC grade Stainless Steel.

4.  Does the PreColumn filters replace my guard columns? [top]
No, a guard column is both a particulate filter (non dissolved chemicals) and a chemical filter (removes dissolved chemicals). The PreColumn filter is a particulate filter and adds extra protection of your expensive analytical and guard columns.

5.  Do I need any special fittings to use the PreColumn Filter with my current HPLC Column? [top]
No, the PreColumn filter is completely compatible with 1/16th 10-32 internal fitting ports. Finger tighten the PreColumn filters right into the inlet side of the guard or analytical column (universal fit) and a finger tight male nut to hold your stainless or PEEK tubing is inserted into the inlet side of the PreColumn filter.

6.  Will the PreColumn change my current results? [top]
No, the PreColumn filter will have not effect on the chromatography. It will protect the column from dust, un dissolved salts, pump seal particles or dirt that passes from the HPLC pump into a column.

7.  Can I change the filter element? [top]
No, there is no need to replace the element. When the unit is ready to replaced, simply dispose of it. It will be destroyed if you open it.

8.  Are there any solvents that should not be used with the PreColumn Filters? [top]
Yes, all solvents that not compatible with PEEK should not be used. They include: DMSO, Methylene Chloride and concentrated THF.

9.  What is the pore size of the PreColumn Filters? [top]
They come in either 0.5 µm or 2.0 µm.
