1. What is the CE Reference Database used for? [top]
The CE Reference Database is used to easily and quickly find any or all references in all major journals for articles and
their abstracts for Capillary Electrophoresis and CEC since the beginning 1967. It can be used for papers, books, theses, or
project proposals. Also widely used to see if “it has already been done” or to find starting points with methods from the
literature.
2. What are the computer requirements? [top]
To use the database, you need a PC computer, CD Reader and Microsoft Windows98 or later.
3. Do I have to have “Endnote” to use the database? [top]
No, “Endnote Reader” is included with the CD which you will install on your computer or you can always download the
latest version from Endnote’s website. However, if you want to modify and update the database, you will have to purchase
EndNote.
4. How do I install the database? [top]
The CD is a self installing CD, however, if it does not self install for any reason, copy the entire contents of the CD to a
new subdirectory on your hard drive. Then run CE Reference Database.exe. Then select File from the Toolbar and Open and then
Open Library. Select the library CE Reference Database x.enl.
5. Can I export the search results to word processors? [top]
Yes, once you create a lookup using EndNote Reader, you can export the results to a rich format text file. From the toolbar
in EndNote Reader, select “File”. Then select “Export” from the pull down menu. You are then prompted to create a file and
determine the location on your hard drive (sub-directories). From the File Type at the bottom of the message box, select the
type of file that your word processor or other program can import.
6. Can I lookup by Author? Keyword? [top]
Yes, you can search the database and create lookups by Any field in the database. To create a search, select “References”
from the Tool Bar in EndNote Reader. Then Select “Search” from the pull down menu. There will be a search engine that allows
you to create look ups by many different criteria.
