How to Condition a Cogent Column for Storage

Long Term Storage:

  1. Rinse the column with 8 column volumes with pure solvent that you use as your mobile phase. It is important to use non-buffered mobile phase.
  2. Then purge the column with 8 column volumes of 100% HPLC Grade, filtered Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA).
  3. Then purge the column with 80% IPA and 20% water with 8 column volumes.
  4. Cap both ends of the column with the provided protective end caps or with Super-Link (Seal-Links) End Fittings and capping them with column plugs provided.
  5. Return column to the box it came in for safekeeping.
  6. Store column at room temperature.
  7. Never let the column dry out.
  8. Never store the column in buffers.
  9. Never store the column in liquid that is more than 30% water.
Overnight:
  1. Rinse the column with 8 column volumes with pure solvent that you use as your mobile phase. It is important to use non-buffered mobile phase.
  2. Cap both ends of the column with the provided protective end caps or with Super-Link End Fittings and capping them with column plugs provided.
