Separation of Pharmaceuticals with CElixir
Vitamin B1 & B6
- Low pH yet High EOF
- Short Analysis Times
- Simple, Easy, Fast
Method Conditions:
Voltage: 30 kV
Capillary: 50µm x 60cm Bare Fused Silica
Injection: e-gram 1: 5 seconds hydrodynamic
e-gram 2: 30 seconds
Run Buffer: CElixir Accelerator Solution B, pH 2.5
Detection: UV, e-gram 1: 200nm
e-gram 2: 190nm |
Method Discussion:
Using a Beckman MDQ CE instrument and a MicroSolvCE bare fused silica capillary, made by Polymicro Technologies,
the separation of vitamins B1 and B6 was accomplished in less than 6.0 minutes. In electrophergram one, the sample
concentration was 6µg/ml with the peaks being well resolved. In electropherogram 2, the concentration was only
0.5µg/ml and yet two resolved peaks could be detected. The UV wavelength was changed to 190nm to maximize
sensitivity and the run buffer was added to the sample.
It is good to note that the migration times of both peaks remain relatively constant and fast in both the
separation methods.
