CEoFix™ Buffer Kit for Analysis of Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin (CDT)

These kits are designed for use with Beckman P/ACE 500, MDQ or PA800 Capillary Electrophoresis instruments but can be adapted to other CE instruments. Based on a similar double layer dynamic coating found in CElixir™, these kits not only make it easy to get results but also makes your results very precise and accurate.

Q: What is this kit used for?
A: The kit and methodology included in the kit, measure CDT (carbohydrate deficient transferrin) in serum but can be adapted for use for other glycol proteins and isoforms for these biomolecules.

Each kit contains:

Standard Methodology
Iron Saturation Solution
Pre-made Buffers which include the dynamic coatings
(no other buffers or additives are needed)
Technical Support via Phone, Email or Fax
Background Information about CDT:
The abuse of alcohol represents a major public health problem with very important consequences for society and the economy. In order to help the medical staff in evaluating the alcohol consumption for diagnosis or follow up, a laboratory marker is recommended.

Several markers have been evaluated such as gamma-glutamyl transferaase, aspirate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase or mean corpuscular volume. Another marker has gained more attention lately by measuring carbohydrate deficient transferrin (CDT) in serum.

Transferrin is the most important iron transporting glycoprotein and can be found in serum. Transferrin, with a MW of 80kd, is synthesized in the liver, it has two N-linked oligosaccharide chains and can bind up to two iron molecules. The two N-glycan chains differ in their degree of branching, showing bi-, tri- and tetra-antennary structure. Each antenna of the Tf N-glycan chains terminates with a negatively charged sialic acid molecule.
