How to Use CElixir
Easy to Apply Instructions
Using CElixir is very simple and robust. A complete Operating and Trouble
Shooting Manual is included with every column kit and our help desk is available to assist you in your method
development. Using CElixir is very simple; once you have followed the instrument manufacturer’s instructions
to stabilize the instrument, prepare your sample in CElixir Accelerator Solution (B) of the pH of your choice,
then;

Beginning Steps to use CElixir
- Condition Your Capillary. Run 0.1N NaOH solution through the capillary for at least one minute at 2Bar. Inlet
vial NaOH, outlet vial to waste.
- Rinse the Capillary. Run CEwater through the capillary for two minutes. Inlet vial CEwater, outlet
vial to waste; 2Bar.
- Apply the Initial Coating of the capillary with Initiator Solution (A). Run Initiator through the
capillary for at least 1 minute. Inlet vial CElixir Initiator Solution, outlet vial waste; 2Bar.
- Apply the Final Coating of the capillary with Accelerator Solution (B). Run Accelerator (B) of the pH you have
chosen for your sample for two minutes. Inlet vial CElixir Accelerator (B), pH of your choice, outlet vial
waste; 2Bar.
- Inject your sample. Inject approximately 2% of your capillary volume with cathodic vial.

- Insert a CEwater plug by injecting it for 1 second. Inlet vial CEwater, outlet vial CElixir
Accelerator (B), same as Step 5; 50mBar for 1 sec.
- From a different vial (not the one used in Step 4) run a vial with Accelerator Solution (B) into a vial
with Accelerator Solution (B). Inlet vial Accelerator Solution (B), pH of your choice, outlet vial
Accelerator (B), pH of your choice.
- Repeat steps 1-7 between each injection.
Final Steps for CElixir and care for the capillary
- Fill the Capillary with 0.1N NaOH and let it stand for at least one minute.
- Rinse the Capillary for at least one minute with 0.1N HCL.
- Rinse the Capillary for at least one minute with 0.1N NaOH.
- Rinse the Capillary for at least one minute with CEwater.
- Blow dry, air or nitrogen through the capillary till dry.
